Once upon a time, a fox and a wolf were inseparable friends. One day, while they were wandering, they stumbled upon a piece of meat lying on the road. Both the fox and the wolf wanted to eat the meat. The wolf said to the fox beside him:
— Well, you eat it, my friend, – giving way. The fox, grinning broadly, replied:
— My mouth is fasting, my friend, didn’t you know? You go ahead and eat, – he said. The wolf, wanting to eat the meat, stretched out his snout. Just as he was about to take a bite, a trap caught his neck. The meat flew off to one side. The fox quickly grabbed the meat and ran away with it. Seeing this, the wolf asked:
— Hey, my friend, wasn’t your mouth fasting? – he inquired. The fox, still running, replied:
— The fast in my mouth ended and transferred to your neck, – and he dashed off.
