The Rabbit and the Hedgehog Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, in a forest, there lived a kind hedgehog and his friend. One day, the hedgehog went out for a walk in the woods and encountered a selfish rabbit.

- Hello! What are you doing? - asked the rabbit.

- I'm just taking a stroll, - replied the hedgehog.

- Ha-ha-ha! - laughed the rabbit. - How are you walking with those short legs?

Offended by these words, the hedgehog said to the rabbit:

- Let's have a race, then we'll see who's stronger.

The rabbit agreed. The hedgehog said:

- I'm going home now to have breakfast. After that, we will run, - he said.

When the hedgehog got home, he told his friend:

- We are going to race against the rabbit, - he said.

His friend replied:

- Oh, how can you race against the rabbit? He's faster than you... - said the friend.

Then the hedgehog said to him:

- Even if he's fast, he's foolish. Just watch, we will trick him and win. Just listen to me and do as I say, - he said.

They left the house and arrived at the racing spot. There, the hedgehog hid behind a rock and said to his friend:

- When the rabbit comes running, you will pop out from behind the rock and say to him, "I’m here," - he instructed.

The rabbit arrived at the clearing, and everything began. The rabbit and the hedgehog took their positions and started running. The rabbit sprinted with all his might to the rock, and at that moment, the hedgehog's friend jumped out, claiming, "I came first!" The rabbit couldn't believe his eyes and exclaimed, "This is impossible!" The rabbit said, "Let’s run one more time," and took his position again while the hedgehog's friend hid behind the rock. When the rabbit came running again, the hedgehog stood there waiting, and once more jumped out, shouting, "I’m first!"

The rabbit, furious, said:

- Alright, you won. I will never mock you again, - he said.

Indeed, from that moment on, the rabbit never mocked anyone again.
