Korkyt Ata Fairy Tale

Korkyt Ata Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, a horse looked up at the sun and said:

 - Oh, benevolent sun that grants life to all creatures, people say I am one of the most beautiful among animals. I can feel it myself too. Yet, I think some parts of my body could be even more beautiful.

- Which part do you think could be improved? - asked the sun with a smile.

- If, - said the horse, - my legs were a bit longer and more elegant, I would be an unbeatable racer. If my neck were as long as a swan's, that would add even more grace to my appearance. If my chest were broader, I would be even more capable. Moreover, if there were a saddle on my back that could never be removed, it would suit me perfectly...

- Alright, may your wishes come true, - said the sun cheerfully, - just wait a moment. Saying this, the sun brought down a camel to the earth. Seeing the massive, towering creature, the horse began to tremble both from fear and disgust.

- Here, you have long and slender legs, a neck as long as a swan's, a broad chest, and the saddle is ready too. So, do you wish to be like this? - asked the sun. The horse stood there trembling, still unable to collect itself.

- N-no... - it stammered.

- Then go your way, - said the sun to the horse, - your own form is sufficient for you! Everyone should appreciate their own qualities. Since then, camels have started to thrive on earth. And the horse, whenever it sees a camel, still trembles and begins to shiver to this day.
