Once upon a time, there was a goat with seven kids. One of them was black, while the others were white. As the goat prepared to go to the forest, she called her kids and gave them some advice:
My children, do not open the door for anyone. There is a wolf in the forest.
When I arrive, I will sing, "My children - my kids, your mother has come, bringing milk." At that moment, the wolf, who was outside the window, overheard her words.
As soon as the goat left, the wolf knocked on the door and sang her song in a coarse voice. However, the kids recognized that it was not their mother's voice and refused to open the door. The wolf then went to a merchant and bought some chalk. After eating a piece of chalk, his voice became slightly thinner. He sang with this voice, but the kids were not fooled again. The wolf went to a butcher and had him prepare food for him – his voice turned thin like the goat's. But even this new voice did not help; the kids saw his paws and still did not open the door. The wolf quickly went to a baker and bought flour to spread on his paws. When the wolf returned to the front door, he stretched out his white paw for the kids to see and began to sing:
"My children – my kids, your mother has come, bringing milk. Do not be afraid, open the door!" The seven kids trusted and opened the door! When the wolf entered the house, the kids scattered and hid. The wolf found and ate them all, except for one, who had hidden behind the clock.
With a full belly, the wolf lay down in the shade of a tree and fell asleep. Soon after, the goat returned home. When she pushed the door, it opened. The goat entered and called for her kids. The one who survived came out and told her what had happened. The goat and her kid went around to the back of the house and saw the wolf lying on the grass, snoring on his back. The goat gored the wolf's belly with her horns, and six kids came out. They were all safe and sound. The joy of the goat and her kids was boundless. While the wolf was still asleep, the goat filled his belly with stones and stitched it back up. Thirsty, the wolf went to drink water from a well. At that moment, the heavy stones inside pulled him down, and the wolf fell into the well and drowned.
