Two Wheat plants growing side by side, one of them gradually bent down as its head became heavier with each passing day. Meanwhile, the other stood tall, its head held high. It was entwined by a Creeper. One day, the upright Wheat asked the Creeper:
— Why do you keep climbing and squeezing my breath, where are you trying to go? — it asked.
— I want to climb over you and reach that Sunflower over there, — replied the Creeper.
At that moment, the Wheat with the bent head interjected.
— Every year you struggle to reach the tall ones, but when autumn comes, you wither away without achieving your dreams. Your actions are affecting many. You are squeezing the breath out of me and preventing my growth. While I am trying to thrive and multiply my offspring, when will you stop trampling everything in your path to reach your goal? – it complained.
— Oh, I wonder if next spring I should squeeze you even tighter, but what are you accomplishing? — the Creeper retorted angrily.
— I will not regret it; next spring I will grow not in one place, but in a thousand. I have many offspring. Just think, can your vine wrap around all of them? — it replied.
— It can! I will destroy the Wheat along with its seeds! — shouted the Creeper.
Hearing the Creeper's voice, a Man came over to them. Upon seeing the Creeper, he exclaimed:
— Oh no, it has left the Wheat to wither! — and he pulled the Creeper out by its roots.
The upright Wheat said:
— You poor thing, you didn't realize how you perished halfway by wishing harm upon others for your own sake, — it said.
In a dying state, the Creeper replied:
— You will not ripen and spread your seeds; autumn will come, — it gritted its teeth.
After some time, the head of the upright Wheat also bent down. Now it was filled with joy. It had rejuvenated beautifully. Meanwhile, over there, the Creeper lay withered and black.
