The girl who chooses her husband. Fairy Tale

The girl who chooses her husband. Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, there was a princess who was exceptionally beautiful and intelligent, the daughter of a king. The king had not betrothed his daughter to anyone. He said, "Let my daughter choose whoever she loves." One day, the princess came to her father and said, "Father, the time has come for me to marry. Whoever brings me a gift that pleases my heart, I will accept him." She came to tell her father this thought. The father approved his daughter's words and announced to the people, "O people, whoever brings a gift that pleases my daughter, I will give her to him." Young men, captivated by the princess’s beauty, and wealthy gentlemen came from all over. One brought a fur coat, another a beautiful dress, and another embellished boots made of gold. However, none of these gifts pleased the princess. The suitors returned home with their heads down. Meanwhile, three men set out from three different cities to try their luck in the king's land. When they reached the main road of the king's realm, they encountered each other. One of them had a carpet as a gift, the second had a mirror, and the third had an apple. As they traveled, each man spoke of the properties of their gifts. The first man said, "My carpet will take you anywhere you wish in the blink of an eye." The second man said, "Whoever looks into my mirror will see what is happening on Earth." The third man said, "My apple is a remedy for the soul and medicine for the body. If someone eats it, the dead will come back to life." At that moment, the man with the carpet asked the man with the mirror, "Look into your mirror and see what is happening on the Earth." The man looked into the mirror and said, "The princess has only moved her eyelashes and is lying there in a faint." Seeing this, the other two jumped onto the carpet and quickly flew to the palace where the princess lay. By the time they arrived, the girl had already passed away. At that moment, the third man went and made the princess eat the apple, bringing her back to life. All three presented their gifts to the revived princess. The princess returned the carpet and the mirror to their owners but decided to marry the man with the apple. The two men with the carpet and mirror stood up and said, "Our gifts are no less valuable than his. If we had not looked into the mirror and flown quickly on the carpet, you would have died. Why did you choose the man with the apple?" The princess replied, "Even if he had come late, that man would have brought me back to life. Moreover, I have already eaten his apple, so I cannot return it. As for your mirrors and carpets, they belong to you," she said. Thus, the two men were defeated in their arguments and returned to their homes. The princess married the man who had brought the apple and lived a happy life.
