Baursak Fairy Tale

Baursak Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, there was an old man and an old woman. One day, the old man said to his wife:

- Old woman, old woman, please knock on the bottom of the granary, sift with the sieve, and if you could bake a bun for your hungry old man, I would be grateful! - he said.
The old woman took a shovel, knocked on the bottom of the granary, sifted with the sieve, and found two handfuls of flour.
She kneaded the flour with cream, shaped it into a round bun, and after putting it in hot oil, she set it aside to cool down, thinking that her husband would eat it with delight.
As the bun cooled, it began to ponder how to escape from this house, and it fixed on a plan. It rolled off the shelf, fell to the floor, leapt over the threshold, and reached the yard. From the yard, it headed outside, rolling along the path, getting further and further away.

While rolling down the road, the bun encountered a long-eared rabbit.
The rabbit said to the bun:
- Bun, bun, I will eat you!
The bun replied:
- Don’t eat me, dear rabbit, I’ll sing you a song, just listen!
- Alright then, sing away! - said the rabbit.
My name is Bun,
I’ve ripened and my heart is glad.
I knocked on the bottom of the granary,
Sifted with the sieve.
I kneaded with cream,
Baked it in oil without burning.
I escaped from the old man,
I slipped away from the old woman,
Escaping from you, rabbit,
Is not hard for me!

With that, the bun rolled away, and the foolish rabbit stood there, dumbfounded.
The bun rolled on, and while it was rolling, it met a grey wolf.
- Bun, bun, I will eat you! - said the wolf.
- Grey wolf, please don’t eat me, I will sing you a song, just listen! - the bun replied, starting to sing.
My name is Bun,
I’ve ripened and my heart is glad.
I knocked on the bottom of the granary,
Sifted with the sieve.
I kneaded with cream,
Baked it in oil without burning.
I escaped from the old man,
I slipped away from the old woman,
I escaped from the rabbit,
Escaping from you, wolf,
Is not hard for me!
The bun rolled on, leaving the stunned wolf behind.

The bun rolled away again, and then it encountered a bear:
- Bun, bun, I will eat you! - said the bear.
- Please don’t eat me, dear bear, listen to me sing! - the bun said, starting its song:
My name is Bun,
I’ve ripened and my heart is glad.
I knocked on the bottom of the granary,
Sifted with the sieve.
I kneaded with cream,
Baked it in oil without burning.
I escaped from the old man,
I slipped away from the old woman,
I escaped from the rabbit,
I escaped from the wolf,
Escaping from you, bear,
Is not hard for me!
With that, the bun rolled on, leaving the bewildered bear behind.

The bun continued rolling, and after overcoming many hills, while rolling along the road, a cunning fox approached quickly.
- Bun, where are you rolling off to? - asked the fox.
- I’m just going on my way, - replied the bun.
- Bun, bun, I will eat you! - said the fox,
- Please don’t eat me, I’ll sing you a song! - the bun said.
Then the bun sang:
My name is Bun,
I’ve ripened and my heart is glad.
I knocked on the bottom of the granary,
Sifted with the sieve.
I kneaded with cream,
Baked it in oil without burning.
I escaped from the old man,
I slipped away from the old woman,
I escaped from the rabbit,
I escaped from the wolf,
I escaped from the bear,
Escaping from you, fox,
Is not hard for me!

- Your song is nice, Bun, but this ear is weak; come up to my nose and sing it louder and clearer! - said the cunning fox.
Flattered by the praise, the bun sang on the fox's snout.
Then the fox said:
- Your voice is wonderful, sing it one more time, let me enjoy it while sitting on my tongue! - said the fox.
The bun, not understanding the fox's trick, jumped onto its tongue without thinking, and “Yum!”, the bun was quickly devoured by the cunning fox. Remember, children, pride is not a good thing, and with this thought, we conclude the tale.
