Long ago, people believed that the world was created by Yurung Aiyntoyon, who inhabited the highest layer of the six-layered sky. After creating the world, he asked a human:
— Should I make winter long, or summer long? — he inquired.
— First, let me ask my friends, the ox and the horse, — replied the human. They first asked the horse:
— How do you want it to be? Should winter be longer than summer, or should summer be longer than winter?
— I want summer to be long, because in winter my hooves get cold, — answered the horse. Then they asked the ox:
— What do you say? Which one should be long, and which one short? —
— Winter should be long, because in summer my nose gets wet, — said the ox. Thus, as the ox wished, winter became longer, and summer became shorter. Hearing the ox's wish, the horse became furious and kicked it in the wet snout. It kicked so hard that it broke its long tooth. The ox, wanting to retaliate, butted the horse in the side, rupturing its gallbladder. Since then, it has been said that horses have a gallbladder, and horned cattle do not have long teeth.
