Pyotr Pavlovich Yershov (February 22 [March 6] 1815, Bezrukovo, Siberian Governorate – August 18 [30] 1869, Tobolsk, West Siberian Governorate) was a Russian poet, prose writer, and playwright, known for his narrative poem "The Little Humpbacked Horse." He was awarded the Order of Saint Stanislaus II class. Along with Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, Yershov is considered one of the founders of the Russian literary poetic fairy tale.
